Matthew Garrison is an Austin based music educator and marching designer.

He performed with the Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle corps for three years. During his time with Carolina Crown he was a part of two Jim Ott high brass awards, and a John Brazale high visual award.

Matthew received his undergraduate degree in music education from Texas Tech University in 2014. While at Texas Tech, he began advanced studies in wind-band conducting with Dr. Eric Allen, and graduate studies in Wind Literature with Dr. Sarah McKoin.

Matthew served as an instructor and director for the Guardians Drum and Bugle Corps from 2013 to 2015. In their inaugural year, he served as the Brass and Visual Caption Head. In 2014 he served as the Visual Caption Head before taking over as Assistant Director in 2015.

He’s in his fourth year at Lehman High School, running marching rehearsals, the student leadership team, and serving as the director of the non-varsity Wind Symphony. He also works as the programs art department designing prop, sets, websites, graphics and apparel for the marching band.

When he’s not teaching, Matthew spends his time running, as well as hiking and traveling with his wife Lauren, checking off every U.S. National Park.
